FDA APPROVES DIOVAN: Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. has announced that the Food and Drug Administration has approved Diovan (valsartan) for a new indication to reduce cardiovascular death in patients at high risk following a heart attack. As a result, the drug can now be prescribed in a broader range of heart-failure patients.
